It has been a long time since my last post here... I have quit my job as principal to become a full time blogvangelist... I want to make it clear : I am fine, everything is great for me and I can't be more happy than I am at Opossum, the company I founded with colleagues met during my experiments of blogging when I was principal @ Institut St-Joseph.
I contact you today because there is an event in France that you should take a look. A principal of a technical school in Lozere, France, has been dismissed after discovery of his anonymously-written blog, which was deemed obscene and pornographic. There was nothing oscene or pornographic on the blog who was shut down few times ago. This English post from a french blogger, «Garfielddgate» (Garfieldd is the nickname of the principal), can resume the whole thing. Since I went in the field, I spent some good time in France (three stays) and I made lots of contact there... The network is solid and the french blogosphere reacted a lot as you can see there. Lots of paper in national press was published following the decision and reported that all bloggers support the principal even if he made mistakes in his approach of blogging. We simply argued that the punishment (he loosed all his privileges and rent) was far disproportionate when we consider the real facts...
Yesterday, in a press release, the Minister of Education got back a bit on his decision. This is the beginning of something important maybe on this other side of sea in the context of ICT integration in learning because the focus will be more on blogs and ICT-education this week to come. If you can give some support to the french community in a comment on this post, I am sure that it will be appreciate... The fact is that billions of students is blogging anonymously in France and my point is that the principal can do more now for integration of ICT in school than ever; I think he realised lots of thing and he can now testified on blogging in school of education with a rich experience... The decision to fired him was a error and we want to continue to put pressure on authorities to serve the student's needs rather than make more silence in school system... Anyway, you are able to make your own opinion on this issue and do the best you think.
Thanks a lot folks. I realised that I didn't give you enought news this autumn about my work and I will try to do more in next months...
